GeekTool - Your shell on your Desktop!

* GeekTool is tool to show any shell command output or file output on your desktop!

I have just fall in love with this small tool - there are endless possibilities for what you can do with GeekTool.

For example, I have added 'Calendar' and random quote using 'fortune' command on my Desktop.

Cool?

So, How to do it?

Easy!

1. Install GeekTool from: http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/geektool
2. Go to System Preferences.
3. You will find new option there at end, GeekTool in Other section.
4. Open it, and you will find like below (command will be blank in your case!)

5. Add Command you want to display. Note that you can also give output of any log file by selecting 'file' instead of 'shell' in top drop-down menu.

6. Set 'Refresh' rate.

7. You can set 'Location' too. When Preference pane is opened, you can go to desktop and resize output window too.

8. Done!

Note: My command is,

echo && echo && cal | sed "s/^/ /;s/$/ /;s/ $(date +%e) / $(date +%e | sed 's/./#/g') /" && echo && fortune -s
